This Tiffany Stained Glass course, also referred to as copper foil, offers students the opportunity to learn a craft enabling them to create stunning lamps, and objet d’arte.
General Objectives
We are running this course with the desire to keep this ancient manual craft alive, as well as demonstrating how it can be a wonderful medium for contemporary art.
The Course
The course includes the creation of a Tiffany style stained glass panel of a subject of your choosing that you will take home with you (or we’ll ship to you) at the end of your stay.
The course will start by teaching you how to design a decorative or figurative project so that structural lines enhance the beauty of the final window, we will work with a comprehensive range of high quality glass of different colours and which have been made in different ways, and then coach you in deciding the most suitable materials for your project. Next the essential skills of cutting and grinding – using a diamond wheel. Finally, you will learn and master the technique of copper foiling, assembling and soldering your piece.
